An irrefutable fact is that the world of internet is only going to penetrate further in a wide spectrum of areas ranging from communication, research, banking to education, leisure and shopping. While the internet usage is growing at a tremendous rate, but the users lack the necessary skills and knowledge about the precautionary measures that can prevent them from falling prey to cyber-attacks.
There is a sharp contrast to the physical world where the social rules of engagement that are both taught through words and action over generations and internalized through socialization govern our behaviour in the communication where we live, play and work. For this very purpose, there is a need for each individual and institution to feel safe, protected and aware.
DigiLit JMC as a chapter is dedicated to digital well-being of people and envisions to contribute to a more informed, aware and safe space for individuals in the online environment. We aim to increase the awareness about the various topics that fall under the multi-faceted umbrella of the online world be it net banking, social media or researching. It is a safe space for all the enthusiastic netizens who wish to learn about the digital processes and in turn be more aware.
A place where complex knowledge of the virtual world is made understandable and simple for all.
We aspire towards a positive digital future, a place where IoT does not translate to ‘internet of threats’ but to ‘internet of things’ by working through research and collaborations and hence doing our bit in ensuring prevention remains better than cure.

SIGNIFICANCE OF OUR LOGO
The letter ‘L’ symbolises a laptop. This laptop shows how we have transitioned from using computers to handled laptops, which also focuses on our need to carry the Digital world along with us everywhere we go.
The ‘box’ around the chapter name suggests that our lives are enclosed in the online culture and our world will now be incomplete without the necessary knowledge about using the online space and therefore bringing in Digital (Digi) and literacy (Lit) together in the box.
The letter ‘D’ symbolises a power button which activates and deactivates a device. This is where it begins from. One tap on the power button and we’re in the digital space.
The ‘circle’ represents an evolutionary process from a bulb to the innovation of Wi-Fi. This showcases how new advancements are taking place in the world every day.
